Suspect wanted after attempted robbery of mobile phone shop in Uxbridge | in Durham

The robbery of a mobile phone store led to a manhunt for an unidentified suspect.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on September 24, a man approached the Telus Mobility store on Toronto Street in Uxbridge. He was armed with a long metal object and what appeared to be a gun.

Police were called shortly after, but the suspect fled before officers could intervene. The suspect was last seen walking through Uxbridge Cemetery.

Investigators describe the suspect as a young black male between 15 and 20 years old. He wore all-black clothes and carried a backpack.

Police are asking anyone with a dash cam or area surveillance video at the time to share the footage. Anyone with information can call the Durham Regional Police Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5359 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
